Leibniz-Institut für Präventionsforschung und Epidemiologie – BIPS
Data becomes knowledge.
Health data lies scattered. With doctors, health insurers, registries, in research. Only when linked does it become knowledge that benefits everyone. But data protection and connectivity are unwieldy topics. Hard to explain. Harder still to experience. BIPS wanted to make them tangible aboard the MS Wissenschaft.
The result is a hands-on exhibit with heart: complete the puzzle and you make it glow. Touch it, try it out – and see instantly whether it fits.
Result: On the road at around 35 locations in five months – as one of roughly 30 exhibits on board.
What the exhibit shows
Intuitive feedback.
You take a piece and set it in. If it fits, the heart pulses green. If it doesn't, red. No screen, no complicated readout – the colour says it all. With every correct piece the green glows brighter. Once the last piece is in place, the heart flashes three times. What was abstract – scattered data, its value in the linking – becomes an experience in a single move.
How the exhibits came about
From planning to construction.
The concept came from BIPS. The technology from us. We developed the exhibit technically and built it in-house: the magnetic sensors, the 3D-printed puzzle pieces, the lacquered body, the acrylic glass insert, the programmed backlighting. Sensors, programming, media technology – from a single source. Built for a five-month tour across changing locations, through many hands. It has to run. Every day. The concept came from the institute. That it works came from us.
„You switch it on and it just works!“

When an idea has to become an object
Let's turn it into an exhibit.
You have a concept – we make it work. Engineering, prototyping, construction and programming from a single source. On time, on budget, reliable from day one.
